Recently, I am watching a new TV series "The Crown" on Netflix. The last TV series I have watched is "13 Reasons why", and you may tell how long I haven't followed a TV series. After 13, It's difficult for me to find one to follow since both its male & female character are so attractive and the story just perfectly suits my taste. When my boyfriend told me there is a monthly free trial on Netflix, I thought I could see The Good Doctor starring Freddy Heimer (the child star at August Rush) on it. Disappointedly, after signing up a new account, I found it was not on Netflix. However, I found The Crown. I watched its trailer on Facebook before, which seemed nice and interesting. Hence, I picked it as the first TV series to watch on Netflix, and it has turned out to be more amazing than I thought.

The Crown is the story of the British royal family. More precisely, it tells how the monarchy in the United Kingdom survives during the time many nations over the world have abolished the monarchy. Born in the royal family sounds like living in a fairy tale, and civilians view these royal members as a holy, dignified, and close-to-God race. That is why they are willing to pay tax to support the system. While at the same time, these royal members are just human beings as everyone else, and they must hide the reality only to maintain the dignified image in front of the public, to keep the magic.

The first episode begins with King Edward VIII and the wedding of his elder daughter Elizabeth. The marriage wasn't blessed by the royal family due to the background of the princess's fiancé. Philip, a misfortunate prince exiled from Greece, is a tall and arrogant young man who seems confident in everything as well as this marriage. He didn't know that he will have to give up almost every things in order to devote himself a hundred percent to the woman he married.

In fact, I am not very into historical dramas. Even when I read fictions, I prefer modern fiction instead of historical one. Characters in historical movies, dramas, or fictions are too conservative to me, and sometimes I just cannot understand their minds. Nevertheless, I have no trouble with The Crown.  I can understand the characters' struggle and their way of thinking. Besides, unlike the long Japanese historical TV series, The Crown plays in a succinct way. There is a topic behind each episode. Though it plays mostly in a chronological order, it skips the daily routine, and let you wonder what will happen next day without really showing it. It let the audience imagine the subsequence. For example, at the end of one episode, Elizabeth's sister Margaret told Elizabeth that she hates her, and will take revenge for what she did. So, I quickly watched the next episode trying to find out if Margaret has forgiven her dear sister. However, the next episode didn't show me the answer. I discovered the answer from the several episodes afterward.

In conclusion, it's an interesting TV series which I fully recommend people to watch. If you have much free time and don't know what to do in these days, watch The Crown. You may have more subjects to share with your boring colleagues, dear friends, and sweet family.

P.s. I haven't written any English journal after college. Don't blame me if there are many mistakes. :P  I will try to keep journals once a month from now on. Hopefully, I won't fail.
